What do the all-time great professional athletes have in common with each other?  They all give 100% effort in everything they do, especially the small things.  It makes no difference if they play tennis or race cars, they do the little things correctly.

When you are a pro, you bring your athletic performance to a new level.  More importantly, you can be a professional regardless of your age, sport, etc.  It makes no difference if you’re a freshman in high school or if you’re in the pros making money.  I’m sure we all can name a few “professional” athletes who are not true professionals.

So what are some examples how you can become a pro?

  • When you’re feeling tired, lazy, whatever, and don’t want to work out, and you work out anyways.
  • When you want to cheat and eat something that is against your nutrition program, but you don’t.
  • You show up to everything on time and prepared.
  • You get the proper amount of sleep the night before a competition.
  • You take care of your academic responsibilities so you’re eligible to participate.
  • Etc.

It’s hard to be a pro.  It’s hard to do everything to the best of your ability all the time.  That’s why there are so few true professionals, because it is so hard.  But once you’re one, you improve in all areas, not just your athletic career.  Don’t wait to become a pro, start the process immediately.
